There are moments I find myself having out of body experiences while doing this profession. Times where I can’t believe how rad my clients are, how interesting, how unique, how lovely, how freaking amazing these couples are that I have the privilege to photograph.
Enter Madeline and Ryan. Meeting with them over the last few months and learning about who they are, what makes them tick, and how they love, has really made me so incredibly aware and thankful for what I do. They weren’t so in to having an engagement session be focused on the two of them. In their own words, what really makes them whole is the love from their family and friends. When they proposed the idea of having their friends over for a dinner party photo session, I was all about it. We bummed around Ballard first, one of my favorite neighborhoods to capture couples in. Then we head over to their charming bungalow to enjoy the evening with their best of friends over delish Chinese food.
And in case anyone is wondering, a really good way to make your session longer and more awesome is to bribe me with Chinese food…. Just sayin.
Ryan and Madeline,
I can’t WAIT for your wedding this weekend. Call me crazy, but I think I love you :-) Thank you for an awesome evening and introducing me to all of your friends. My cheeks hurt for a solid day after this session from smiling and laughing so much. Thank you for also reminding me of why I do what I do and what a gift it is.
xo,
Laura

And on that note… stay tuned because this amazing couple and their sweet friends are getting together in front of my lens again this weekend for their nuptials.

This sweet little family is growing with the addition of a baby boy. We spent a gorgeous afternoon traipsing around Snohomish and on the grounds of Craven Farm, a lovely little wedding venue. Tanya is an amazing florist here in Seattle (Elements in Bloom), and her sense of style and color confidence is so chic! Congratulations Marty and Tanya! Can’t wait to see you and little Andrew for our newborn session!!

A soft glow, and quiet excitement surrounded her as she waited patiently to don her gown. Hair in a perfect mess of curls, she was radiant as she climbed the stairs and strode toward her future husband with bated breath. The charming setting added to the picture perfect moments we were all about to witness. Port Gamble is, without a doubt, one of the most idyllic wedding venues in our area. It’s almost as if you’re transported into another era, a time where life seemed much simpler. The details of this day were masterfully coordinated by Bella Vita Planning & Paper Co., two of my favorite girls out there!
The day could not have been more beautiful, it literally took my breath away. The sun shining, a light breeze, water glistening, and the sounds of laughter filled the air. A perfect day for a new beginning of a couple and family that has waited a long time for this marriage! When we met up for Kirk and Tiffani’s engagement session in Seattle, I really learned what made these two so perfect for each other. They really have an appreciation and understanding of each other. It’s going to make their marriage one of those that not only succeeds, but excels.
Kirk and Tiffani,
Thank you for including us in your day! It was such a joy getting to know you and capture your love for each other. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for your family.
All my love,
Laura

RAWR Tiffani!!! Seriously, you are amazing!

The moment where my couples see each other for the first time, is always a favorite from the day for me. Their excitement, anticipation and nervousness never fails to take me back to that spot on my wedding day. It’s an amazing feeling to watch it.

This was one of THE BEST wedding cakes I’ve ever tasted, Blackbird Bakery in Bainbridge is a new favorite!
