Blind photographer?

It’s a perfect summer day in the Northwest, and we have very few of them up here so it seems idyllic that it be America’s birthday when the weather is sublime. Life is so good!! Warm and fuzzy, happy and healthy. I’m not shooting today which is actually a good thing because as you all know the heat and I do not agree.  I’m sitting here with my AC on (which also never happens in the NW) sipping on a iced cold drink, and reminiscing about years of 4th of July’s in my past.

I remember the agony as a child, of having to wait to light the fireworks until dark, begging and pleading my parents to just let me have ONE sparkler… just ONE! I’ve always really loved the fireworks that are a little more unique. Who doesn’t love the Chinese house that grows? Or the tanks that skip along the ground. One year my cousin clotheslined herself at my grandma’s house when we were running at top speed through her yard with sparklers. That wasn’t really funny at the time but I guess it’s funny now? I mean she lived to tell the tale. A couple of years ago I got hit in the face… near my eye (can you imagine?) with a bottle rocket. Since that day I pretty much avoid fireworks altogether. I like my eyes just the way they are, thank you very much. I can’t exactly see many people putting their trust in the photographer who can’t see. Minor detail.

Last year at this time I was celebrating the marriage of a lifelong friend. I always love it when people get married on holidays because I can remember them forever! She had the most BEAUTIFUL wedding at a stunning location, and it doesn’t help that she and her husband are supermodels. Watch out, you might blind yourself with the beauty you are about to see.  Happy anniversary Katie and Jeff!! Congrats on your first year and here’s to many many more! How does that cake taste by the way?

I love the look on Jeff’s face when he see’s Katie, pure amazement. Chills…
